Clean Truck Program to be launched by South Carolina Ports Authority

The South Carolina Ports Authority has decided to launch a clean truck certification program the coming year. This is to reduce the port-related air emissions at SCPA’s container terminals. 

The port authority made an official announcement on 11/01/2013 and Truck owners should register in the South Carolina Port Authority website for Clean Truck Certification Program between Nov 1, 2013 and Jan 1, 2013

Award for Tennessee's "SmartWay" Native App

The Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) has received a 2013 Digital Government Achievement Award (DGAA) for its SmartWay Native Mobile app. This App helps the traveler to understand real time traffic information and avoid delays.

HOS Rule likely to Change, if New House Bill passes.

A new bill, TRUE safety act has been introduced in the house with the co-operation of both Congress and FMCSA. If the bill passes, Truckers may abide by the previous HOS rules prior to July 1 changes.

FMCSA Alters the "30 minute Break Rule"

The FMCSA amends the Hours of Service rules for Short-haul drivers. The 30-minute break is applicable for truck drivers taking long hauls for more than 8 hours. Official announcement here
